1 year stats!
Weight: 20.5 lbs, which puts him in the 14th percentile. This is a slight drop in percentile, but not concerning. It's normal for babies to plateau or gain slowly at this age, as they become more reliant on solid foods and more active through crawling and walking.
Height: 30.5 inches, which puts him in the 67th percentile for height. This is a huge leap in height. We officially have a tall kid. Jude certainly felt like he had grown a lot to me, and this confirms it. I no longer have a petite baby, but a long and lean toddler.
Jude is doing everything he should be doing. He took his first steps last week in Ohio, and Mat and I have noticed him trying to stand and walk independently at home. He is a bit of a rusher though. Instead of getting his balance and then walking, he wants to leap out of your arms and run. If you try to have him stand first, he flops down on his knees and crawls.
He loves all his new Christmas and birthday toys and books. Developmentally he was ready for some more mature toys, and the new variety in books has been a hit. We gave him a school bus that he can put mega bloks in, and he was very frustrated with it at first. He would hit the top of the bus and then fuss. Well, all of his other vehicles had a button on top that you pressed and they would light up and move. This is an old school bus, you have to move it yourself. He loves things with flaps and anything you can close and open. Some of his new books have flaps, his ball pit has a door and his Little People barn has lots of little flaps and doors - he has a ball opening and closing everything.
Jude is doing great with solid foods. He is eating more of what Mat and I eat, and less special meals or baby food. He seems to enjoy a large variety of foods. Avocado and eggs are the only thing he consistently dislikes and refuses to eat. I've tried scrambled eggs, cheese omelets, boiled eggs, he will have none of it. Oddly enough, he likes egg substitute. I don't think that has much nutritional value for him though.
Jude is still on the shy and sensitive side, but he is becoming more social. I think storytime at the library each week helps a lot! He use to not leave my side and would cry if it was too loud. Now he crawls up to the other children, plays with the toys (albeit near me) and though right next to, he will venture under the parachute during parachute time.
All in all, he's a healthy kid.:)
